Capel Seion - Zion Chapel
Adeiladwyd ym 1823 gan bobl yr ynys ar ol i'r bregethwr enwog Christmas Jones dod droi bobl yr ynys o'r diafol a'r Eglwys Einglaidd, (ac i fod yn hollol onest, roedd yn llawer well gan Christmas Jones y diafol na'r Eglwys Einglaidd!). Cyn bod y gapel yma, roedd tafarn ar y safle, ond wnaeth pawb ar yr ynys gwrthod alcohol ar ol iddynt troi yn bobl sanctaidd.
Ail-adeliadwyd y gapel ym 1843 ar ol i boblogaeth yr ynys codi. Oherwydd diffyg alcohol, roedd yn rhaid i'r bobl gwneud rhywbeth, a wnaethant y peth fwyaf naturiol - heblaw am y Sul, wrth gwrs, achos ar y Sul mae sawl gwasanaeth. Erbyn hyn dim ond ychydig iawn o boblogaeth yr ynys sy'n mynychu gwasanathau'r capel. |
Built in 1823 by the people of the island after the famous preacher Christmas Jones came to turn the people away from the devil and the Anglican Church, (to be completely honest, Christmas Jones much preferred the devil to the Anglican Church!). Before the chapel was here, the site, but everyone on the island foreswore alcohol after turning saintly.
The chapel was rebuilt in 1843 after the population grew. Due to the absence of alcohol, people had to have something to do, so they did what came most naturally - except on a Sunday, of course, because on a Sunday there were several services. Nowadays only a few of the island's population attends chapel services. |
