Penrhyn-y-Goleudy
Adeliawyd ym 1925 ar ôl i'r llong ager SS Livingstone suddo ar ôl taro'r clogwyni gerllaw. I ddecrhau roedd y mechanwaeth yn glocwaith gyda lampau olew. Ar ôl dywediad trydan i'r ynys ym 1952 uwchraddodd y goleudy i weithio ar drydan. Mae yna gynllun i wneud y goleudy yn un awtomatig, ond ni fyddai hynny'n digwydd tan ar ôl i Ynys Paradwys gael system gyfathrebu modern, gan gynnwys band llydan.
Cafod y corn niwl ei osod ym 1930, ond erbyn hyn mae jyst yn hynodbeth, ac heb cael ei ddefnyddio ers 1990. Cewch glywed y corn niwl trwy gwasgu'r botwm ar y sied. Ers 1969 mae Mr Dafydd Lamp wedi bod yn gediwad y goleudy ar Ynys Paradwys, ond byddai'n ymddeol unwaith bod y goleudy wedi cael ei awtomateiddio. |
The lighthouse was built in 1925 after the steamship SS Livingstone sank after hitting the nearby cliffs. At first the mechanism was clockwork, and the lamps burned oil. After electricity arrived on the island in 1952 the lighthouse was upgraded to run on electricity. There are plans to make the lighthouse automatic, but this won't happen until after Ynys Paradwys gets a modern system of communication that includes broadband.
The fog horn was installed in 1930, but nowadays is just a curio, and hasn't been used since 1990. You can hear the fog horn by pushing the button on the shed. Since 1969 Mr Dafydd Lamp has been the lighthouse keeper on Ynys Paradwys, but he will be retiring once the lighthouse has been automated. |
